What Now?

While the tunnel is closed, L service will still run in Brooklyn, but will be suspended in Manhattan. The Brooklyn-only L will operate to and from the Bedford Av and Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway stations.

To get you between Manhattan and Brooklyn and around Manhattan, MTA New York City Transit and NYC DOT are working together to add:

(Bus Icon) (Ferry Icon) (Subway Icon) (Bike Icon) (Pedestrian Icon)

  • More than a thousand extra roundtrips every week on other subway lines

  • Free transfers at key locations to ensure a one-fare trip

  • Six new bus routes with special priority on the Williamsburg Bridge and on 14th Street to keep buses moving

  • New temporary East River ferry service between N 6th Street in Williamsburg and E 20th Street in Manhattan

  • New bike lanes, plus protected bike lanes for critical connections between Manhattan and Brooklyn, and across town on 12th and 13th Streets

  • New bike parking

  • Expanded Citi Bike service in the affected areas including more bikes, docks, and valet service

  • Expanded sidewalk space on 14th Street and near transit hubs like Union Square and Broadway in East Williamsburg for more walking room
